In the late 19th century, the Pinal Apache Indians carried out raids against white farmers and friendly Pima Indians in the region. The Arizona Volunteers, seeking to retaliate, followed the Apaches on a secret trail to the top of some rugged, towering cliffs. At daybreak, they launched a surprise attack, killing more than half of the 75 Apaches. Facing the onslaught, the remaining Apaches opted to leap over the cliff's edge rather than surrender to their attackers.

It is said that the sorrow of the Apache women was so profound that the Great Father embedded their tears into black stones at the base of the cliff. These black obsidian stones, when held up to the light, reveal a translucent tear within. Obsidian is a natural glass, formed when molten lava, rich in silica, erupted from a volcano and cooled rapidly on the Earth's surface. Opaque when reflecting light, the stones become translucent when held directly towards a light source.

The product being offered is a single Apache Tear, approximately 1 inch in diameter and weighing 1.2 ounces. Each specimen is accompanied by an informative card detailing the stone's origin and significance. It is important to note that every rock is unique, varying in shape, size, and appearance. No two Apache Tears will be exactly alike, making each one a distinct and remarkable natural wonder.

The Apache Tears originate from North America, where the tragic events that inspired their creation unfolded. These captivating stones serve as a poignant reminder of the struggles and resilience of the Apache people, as well as the enduring power of nature to preserve the memories of the past.
